Gordon Mackey was raised on a farm in the Peace River Country of NW Alberta, became a teacher of both industrial arts and fine arts. After retiring, he farmed and was a volunteer firefighter, and was awarded a Provincial Emergency Services Medal in 2016. His interest in history saw him establish a community museum in Teepee Creek, and was a dedicated volunteer in many non-profit societies, such as the South Peace Regional Archives. After moving to Okotoks in 2015, he continued with his artworks, and became the author of six novels.
